Save Money with our Enhanced Great Driver™ App
Looking for a way to lower your auto insurance premium? Look no further than our newly relaunched Great Driver app.
Our revamped smartphone app is easy to use and will reward you based on your good driving habits. You’ll receive a 10% discount on your car insurance premium just for enrolling and driving 500 miles over 100 days.
Once you’re enrolled, the app will monitor your driving behaviors—from acceleration and braking to distracted driving, mileage, speeding, and the time of day you typically drive—for 100 days and provide you with scores for each habit.
Then, we’ll calculate one Overall Score based on your driving behaviors. That overall score will determine your insurance discount, which could be up to 20%.
Here’s a closer look at each assessment:
Acceleration score. This measures the frequency of rapid acceleration while you drive. Smoother acceleration is safer and saves on fuel and maintenance expenses.
- Braking score. This measures the frequency of hard braking while you drive. This may happen if you lose focus while driving or follow other vehicles too closely.
- Distracted driving score. This is based on if, and how, you use your phone while driving. Phone use can include calls, texting, or touching the screen while you drive. However, running passive navigation and audio apps won’t have a negative impact on your score.
- Mileage score. This is based on your projected annual mileage. The average individual drives about 13,000 miles each year.
- Speeding score. This indicates how much time you spend driving above the speed limit. Speeding can increase fuel and maintenance costs and the odds of being in an accident.
- Time of day score. This reflects when you’re on the road. Your score will improve if you limit driving during the times when severe accidents are more likely to occur, such as weekend nights.
There are a couple of requirements to be aware of. Once you download the mobile app, you must make your first drive within 30 days of your policy’s effective date. Then, you’ll need to drive at least 500 miles over a 100-day period to reach a final Overall Score.
How much can I save?
Depending on your Overall Score, you can save up to 20% when your insurance policy renews. The average policyholder saves $215 on a 12-month policy.
No hassle
There’s no need to start, stop, or display the app on your phone’s screen to record trips. Great Driver works automatically and quietly in the background on your phone after your initial registration and log-in.
No risks
Don’t worry—no matter what your Overall Score turns out to be, Electric Insurance won’t raise your insurance rate, cancel your policy, or report your driving habits to the police or your employer.
