Towing & Labor with Emergency Roadside Assistance Services
Did you know you may not have the coverage you need if you need a tow? The cost of depends on:
- Type of vehicle that must be towed. Larger or heavier vehicles generally cost 20% - 25% more than a standard vehicle.
- Time of day. Late-night and holiday tows may include extra fees of up to $150 or more.
- Distance of the tow. You’d likely pay a base rate for a set number of miles. For longer tows that exceed that amount, you may be charged an additional $2 – $4 per mile.
- Type of tow truck needed. The type of truck you need has a big impact on the cost of the tow. Remember, all-wheel drive setups, classic vehicles, sports cars, vans, etc., must be loaded on a flatbed rather than use the standard hook-and-chain or wheel-lift tow truck.
Towing & Labor Coverage
Adding Towing & Labor coverage to your policy for about $35 can save you $300 in towing costs. Other inexpensive coverage amounts are available, so if you have vehicles that would need different types of tow trucks, you can select a separate coverage limit. For example, $200 of coverage would generally only be $25 per policy period.

How it works
As part of Towing & Labor coverage, Emergency Roadside Assistance Services are assigned to the vehicle, not the driver, so anyone using your covered vehicle with your permission can use the services without charge. Most assistance arrives in 90 minutes or less, but response times may vary by location and the type of service needed. There are no out-of-pocket expenses unless the towing charges exceed your coverage. Simply use the services and we’ll take care of the rest.
